VOTER INFORMATION
Voting is how Washingtonians protect their voice and help decide the future of our city. In 2026, DC voters will participate in two key elections, and both play an important role in choosing our leaders.
The Democratic Primary will take place on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Because DC is a majority-Democratic city, the primary is often the election that determines which candidates advance. The General Election will follow on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Washington, DC uses ranked choice voting, which allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference. If no candidate earns more than 50% of first-choice votes, the lowest-performing candidate is eliminated and those votes are redistributed based on voters’ next choices until a majority winner is determined.
We encourage voters to rank Dyana Forester first for DC Council At-Large.
Every election is an opportunity to be heard. Voters should confirm their registration, review voting options, locate their polling place, and plan ahead to make sure their voice counts.
